My First Foster is Going to be a Tripawd

Last week, I found out the maltese I was going to foster had to lose his leg. Tomorrow at 2pm, I meet the head of the North Central Maltese Rescue organization to pick up the dog.

His name WAS Chance, but the rescue group wanted to change it so the people that abused him and broke his left, front leg would not name him. I THINK he is going to be named Trouper. If he knows his old name, I don’t want to upset him.

This is my first blog and I am trying to get it going so I can document how things go.

Thanks for helping me learn. I will be like the little tripaw trying to learn a new way of getting around. Hopefully as this blog progresses, so will he!

I have rescue dogs and I will be fostering my first maltese. His left, front leg needs to be amputated due to an abuse injury. I found your organization and was amazed at the support network you have. Once I figure out the message board, I will write more. His surgery will be in a few days so I am learning all I can. You are all as courageous as your tripawds! Talk soon, Campsie

  1. This is my first blog too and you’ll find it’s very easy. You’re doing great already! As soon as you get some pictures of Trouper, you will have to share them with us. I bet you are so excited! We can’t wait to hear all about him.

  2. Awww, a maltese!
We can’t wait to meet him. It does really help to have a place like this to come and talk with everyone. Gunner and I have met such sweet caring people that really understand what we’re going through. I’m so glad I found Tripawds, everyone is so supportive.
Best of luck to you guys! Keep us posted!

  3. Welcome Campsie and foster-tripawd-to-be-and-possibly-renamed! : )

I failed to do much documenting of my first and second tripawds’ experiences leading up to amputation and through their recovery. In retrospective, I’m sure it would have been helpful – good thinkin’!

  4. Hey! How are you guys? Did you get him? Is he home now? Hope all is ok and bet your busy getting him settled.

  5. YES!!! Got him today. He is so cute and sweet. I am so fortunate to be able to see his recovery. He is gonna make it!! What a blessing…thanks gunner!!!
