April 10th, 2011.
We were outside a lot today. It was the warmest day of the year in the Chicago area. I think it got up to 84. Trouper did not like the heat too much. I think because he is so small the slightest change in temperature is hard for him to cope with. Plus, it was in the 50’s just yesterday so it was an extreme shift. He just loves being with the other dogs. He follows them every where. My little dogs are barkers and he is definitely finding his voice as he becomes more confident in the house. He was barking at all the people coming outside after the long winter.
He is still taking Mobic once a day and Ultram 12.5 mg if needed. He is running up the stairs but not down. If I am upstairs, he is right behind me. He is already following either me or the other dogs. So, he is fitting right in. I will be happy when I get his staples out and his long, maltese-hair covers up his scar. He is still pretty skinny so I have been giving him baked chicken and bits of cookie as a treat. He loves that. After his surgery, he had a “dental ” and unfortunately lost a few teeth. Small dogs do have trouble with their teeth, but missing at just age 2 is totally unacceptable. Again, a good reason he is in our rescue and finally getting medical care. He needed to be neutered which was not ever done either. And de wormed.
This Sunday is day three since he has been bunking in with us and I feel things are going pretty well. Who ever adopts him will be getting a wonderful little guy. I am not too firm with him so he is getting what ever he wants. Why not? He’s in rehab right now and life has been tough enough. Chicken and cookies anyone??? Sure,,,why not…woof!

No Kidding! My hairless little guy is back shaking outside. I can’t wait till his hair grows back.
